Dominic had three children, three sisters, and a brother. He was known to visit his children often at his ex-wife's apartment. His father showed concern for his mental health in a 911 call shortly before he died.
Police arrived at his ex-wife's apartment after she called 911 to report domestic violence. Dominic shouted that he had a gun to the police, though his weapon was really just a broken pair of binoculars. The officers proceeded to shoot him 11 times. It was later discovered that Dominic's father had called 911 out of concern for his son's mental health, saying that Dominic intended to be shot by police as an alternative to taking his own life.
Was justice served?
As of February 2021, justice has not been served. The officers involved were placed on administrative leave for three days and then allowed to return to work. Both officers were cleared of any criminal culpability.
